Our jubilarians were delighted to celebrate their golden and diamond jubilees on Saturday, September 23, 2023. They thanked THEIR Lord in a solemn celebration. Father Heinz-Jürgen Reker OFM, presided over the Holy Mass in our Christ the King Church.
Distinguished Visitors from America
From Saturday, August 12 to Monday, August 14, His Excellency, Bishop Thomas John Pap-rocki, and his vicar general Msgr. Hoefler from Springfield, Illinois, U.S.A. visited Thuine. Our provincial house in Alton belongs to the Diocese of Springfield-in-Illinois, so Bishop Paprocki and Msgr. Hoefler are very close to our Sisters there.
Celebration of Profession and Reception into the Novitiate in Wekiar / Timor Leste
We rejoiced with the Sisters of the Indonesian Province on Saturday, August 12, on the occa-sion of the final profession of five Sisters, first profession of five Sisters, and the reception into the novitiate of three postulants in Wekiar/Timor Leste.
First profession and Reception into the Novitiate in Alton /U.S.A.
On Wednesday, August 2, the feast of Our Lady of the Angels (Portiuncula), on which the so-called "Portiuncula indulgence" can be received under the customary conditions, the celebration of the first profession of three novices and the reception of one postulant into the novitiate took place in Alton, U.S.A.
Sister M. Lucy returns to the U.S.A.
With both laughter and tears, Sister M. Lucy returned to the U.S.A. on July 3, 2023, after spending two years in Germany in order to learn the language. She remarked that it was an eventful time and, in retrospect, passed quickly. Although learning the language was top priority, it quickly became clear that Sister M. Lucy had many other skills as well.
Visit from Indonesia
On the afternoon of Thursday, June 15, we welcomed six Sisters from Indonesia to Thuine. They were able to visit the founding site of the congregation, various mission houses in the vicinity and Franciscan sites in Assisi.
Corpus Christi Procession
On the evening of the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ (June 8), we celebrated the solemn high mass together with the parish community in Christ the King Church. From there, we processed through the courtyard of the boys' boarding school to Haus St. Agnes to the first altar at the chapel of St. Francis.
