Formation
Formation is the beautiful journey of a woman, responding to the call of God in her life, to become a Sister of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George.
This process by which a woman transitions from living in the world to being a religious Sister in the convent involves many exterior changes for the woman, but the most profound changes occur interiorly through the workings of the Holy Spirit as she deepens her relationship with Christ who has called her.
There is a Sister whose special task is to accompany the young woman as she makes this journey, beginning during the time before entrance into the convent. Once a woman enters the convent, she is assisted by the novice directress for about one year as a postulant and for two years as a novice, and finally by the director of the temporary professed sisters for five or six years. It is a beautiful privilege to witness the Holy Spirit working in the heart of each woman as she becomes who God has created her to be in our religious community.
