The Generalate refers to both a place as well as the service of leadership for the whole congregation.

In the first sense, the Generalate includes the convents, institutions, and apostolates located at the place of founding, as well as our houses in the Netherlands, Albania and Assisi, inasmuch as they transcend membership to a smaller division of the congregation, i.e., a province.

In the second sense, the Generalate refers to the office of Superior General and the offices that assist and support her in her service to the whole congregation, together constituting general governance. These offices comprise the General council sisters, the first of whom is the general vicaress, the general procurator and the general secretary.

In both senses, the Generalate embodies and guarantees the worldwide character of the congregation.
