On 15 June 2024, our former Superior General, Sister Margaretha Maria Brand, passed away after a serious illness, accompanied by the prayers of her fellow sisters. She was 80 years old and in the 55th year of her religious profession. She led the congregation as Superior General for 24 years and served as a General Council Sister for a further six years.
Her life was characterised by obedience to the will of God and loyalty to the Church and the Congregation, which she served with all her strength and abilities out of love for the Lord.
The Requiem of former superior general, Sister Margaretha Maria Brand, took place on Saturday, June 22, 2024 in our Christ the King Church, with Bishop ermeritus Dr. Franz Josef Bode as main celebrant and seven concelebrating priests. The funeral was then held at the monastery cemetery. Together with her relatives and friends, members of other religious communities and other guests, the Sisters in Germany and the Netherlands took leave of Sister Margaretha Maria.
We thank God deeply for the gift of the life, her vocation, her testimony of faith, her presence among us as a fellow Sister, and her service as superior general. Her 24 years in office were marked by a profound trust in God, expressed in a particular way through devotion to the Heart of Jesus. It is in this same confidence that we commend her to God. May she now see face to face, the God she so well loved and served in this life.
